Will copying games to your harddrive cut ...

When XBOX unleashes the new update everyone is going to have the ability to copy their games into their hard drives. What's preventing people from copying, passing the game on to another person, and so on? For games geared toward multiplayer online play this could really cut into their profits. Thoughts? Will copying games to your harddrive cut ...
You will still need the disc to play the game...Will copying games to your harddrive cut ...
The disc has to be in the machine in order to play it. It's pretty much just what the PS3 does by making a files-cache on your hard drive to improve load times.
no...because of thishttp://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/17785/New-Xbox-Experience-HDD-vs-DVD-Comparison-Video/who ever actually thought people could download full games to their HDD was in lala land...
Still need the Game so it can check if you actuall own the game. Also it isn't putting a cache on the hard drive, you'll be putting a compressed version onto the hard drive.

Oh. Now that makes more sense. Thanks

You cannot copy your friends discs and just play them you do require the disc. However real videos of the official update for November 19 have shown GTA4 being downloaded to the hard drive and then it saying the disc had to be inserted to play it. So to answer XCyberForceX's question no it will not cut sales it will just reduce loading time by downloading certain files from the game. If it does infact upload the intire game then once the disc is verified to be in the drive the disc drive will not need to run and your xbox will run faster and more quietly. So lala land ? no not lala land !
It's doing what the PS3 makes you do for most games. Installing the game to your Cache. For PS3 I think it's necessary because the Blu-Ray reads so slowly.I don't like it on PS3 games, so theres no way I'd do it voluntarily on a 360 game...only for like Fallout 3 and Oblivion. You wont be able to put the whole game on your HD, and you still need the disc to play it.

I personally thought the difference would be a lot better.

Also (not directed at you) its game 'Installing' not copying or downloading. Xbox 360 games are about 8Gb. Once installed, the disc will only spin initialy to verify you own it and after this will not spin again during gameplay as all of the files will be read from the hard drive..Its the same process as PC games, they fully install and the disc does not spin during play. The only reason why you can't install PS3 games fully as they are generaly larger, some weighing in at 40Gb! All this extra gigs is mostly redundant data to speeed up loading times.
Anyone knows if there is going to be a 250gb xbox 360 hard drive because i will not buy the 120gb if a 250gb hdd is coming out. Please respond in a sensible way cause im going to buy the 120gb one because of your answers
do you really think that people at microsoft are that stupid? they just make a feature that would obviously allow pirating unless they made something to prevent it?
