Thinking of trading for a 360, but..

My friend wants to trade me his 360...Thing is, it's about 9 months old and he doesn't have the original receipt. I heard that newer models don't encounter as many cases of red ringing, but I don't want to get stuck with something that's going to crash on me and I won't be able to do anything about it.Should I do it? Would you do it? What are the chances that this console will red ring?Thinking of trading for a 360, but..
If you get the RROD you don't need to show a receipt. If you get it, all you need is the serial number when you call MS for repairs. Nothing more.Thinking of trading for a 360, but..

I would do it depending on what you are trading for it. So... what are you trading for it?
You're positive you don't need the receipt?I'm trading a 40 gig PS3 with a broken blu ray reader (has the receipt so he can get it replaced), his comes with 3 games, an unused headset, controller, and messenger kit for my PS3 with controllerI just don't have the patience to wait for one to come in and I'm dying to play fable 2

Are you sure, the microsoft warranty site says this:

1. Submit proof of purchase in the form of a bona fide, dated bill of sale, receipt, or invoice (or a copy) evidencing that your request for service is made within the Warranty Period.
