You still need the disc to play for copyright reasons.quick launch and rented games?
then what would be the point to installing a game in your hard drive?
With a lot of games the loading times are faster, the disc drive is quieter, in game texture pop-ups are less, or non existent.

there are a number of reasons eg. making the xbox quiter, faster load times etc.

If it did, they'd stop renting the games. I tried out the install thing with Bioshock, and WOW the console was so much quieter. Too bad it took up like 6gb of space. I only have a 20gb HDD so I really dont have room to install games. Maybe I'll upgrade to the 60 or 120gb eventually. That is one reason I totally wish i had payed the extra $100 for the elite......
